Sleep Now or Die Sooner

Managing your night time shenanigans for a healthy you!

We know you’re not dumb enough to believe that sleep makes you stupid! At least we hope so. We all have been treating sleep like a side hobby, scrolling through your phone, giggling your nights away or crying, we really hope you don’t! Ever wondered why your energy levels are low until you have had your 3rd cup of coffee each day?

Some of you are rocking this bizarre tolerance to constant sleep deprivation. Your brains and bodies might be in a UFC match with fatigue, but you're chilling in ignorance, thinking less sleep is your damn normal. Adapted to a subpar version? Hell no, not on our watch.

And if you think skipping out on sleep is harmless, think again. It partners up with some nasty diseases – obesity, diabetes, blood pressure problems, heart issues, strokes, mental health issues, and a fast track to the exit door.

But hold up, no need to hit the panic button, my fellow sleep renegades. Let’s dive into the real talk about catching those Zs. Your brain's a powerhouse, and it craves a solid seven hours of beauty sleep to dominate the game. Skip it, and you're asking for chaos – attention lapses, brain fog, reactions slower than a snail, and mood swings that'll make you question your sanity.

If you're slacking on those Zs, here's the playbook to score that crucial seven hours:

1. Bedtime isn't up for negotiation: make it a habit, even when the weekend's calling you to party.

2. Your sleep spot is sacred: keep it cool, keep it dark, create a sleep masterpiece. Every time you look at it your heart should feel “my preciousssssss“

3. VIP treatment for your body: invest in the top-notch mattress, pillows! Throw a snooze fest in the sheets, because you deserve it.

4. Tech-free zone in the bedroom: make it a sanctuary, not a damn Silicon Valley.

5. Reject late-night caffeine, booze, and heavy meals: your gut and brain will thank you, trust me.

6. Break a sweat during the day: it's the warm-up for your evening wind-down, simple as that.

Sleep like a boss! It's not just a nap; it's a much needed shut eye for an elevated rejuvenation, my fellow nocturnal warriors

Get Your Shit Together:

As an overthinker, you need to take care of three things, mental, emotional & physical health. This week we talk about mental health and how to manage certain aspects of it.

Whenever you onboard a train of overthought that is bound to crash leaving you overwhelmed and you are unable to figure out how to get out of this chaos you simply need to give yourself a reality check and come back to the present. It is easier said than done, but this is how Nick Trenton, author of Stop Overthinking, describes it:

Talking about rewiring your focus to the present moment, breaking free from that mind tornado.

  1. 5 things you can see: Look around, my friend. Spot five things in your zone – a book, a chair, a tree, whatever catches your eye.

  2. 4 things you can touch: Get tactile. Connect with four things nearby – the fabric of your shirt, the warmth of sunlight, that refreshing breeze – soak it all in.

  3. 3 things you can hear: Listen up, hustler. Tune into three distinct sounds around you – leaves rustling, traffic buzzing, or maybe the fridge humming in the background.

  4. 2 things you can smell: Take a deep breath. Pinpoint two scents in your space – the sweet aroma of flowers, the rich scent of coffee brewing, or whatever scent adventure awaits.

  5. 1 thing you can taste: Focus on taste. What's lingering on your tongue? Maybe it's the flavour of your last meal, a burst of mint, or the crispness of water hitting the spot.

This 5 4 3 2 1 grounding drill isn't just about the senses; it's about snapping you back to the present, grounding you, and letting that sweet calm wash over. It's fundamental, it's genius, and it's your ace for mastering the mind's rollercoaster.

Casey Neistat has made yet another masterpiece where he talks about how things don’t come easy. You need to do more and not settle till you’ve made it. There is no compromise and no negotiation because what is to life if you’re not improving every year, every month, every day, every second! You know what I mean, right?
